As we start a new year, we’re already full of anticipation for new albums from some of our fave artists, and while we already talked about some new exciting artists we want to hear from, let’s talk about returning artists.
It’s only been a week, but we’re already getting rumours of new music from some of music’s biggest stars. We sorted through the rumours and came up with a definitive list of artists who we know FOR A FACT will give us some new exciting tunes this year.
Over the weekend, pop star Kelly Clarkson took to Twitter to drop hints about an upcoming new song, which will serve as the first single from her highly-anticipated new album. She also added that her album will definitely be pop, but continues, “I am always influenced by music I love, which is pop-rock/country/r&b/dance”. See the hints she dropped below, which suggests that legendary rapper and producer Dr. Dre may have some involvement or influence:

Florence + The Machine
According to diehard Florence fans on the fansite the Florence + The Machine Army, the pop star is close to finishing her third album, the follow-up to 2011’s Ceremonials. In a Tweet, the fan club reveals that the album “is due for quarter 2 (April-June) of 2015!” — let’s hope they’re right!

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
As reported last week, Macklemore responded to a Tweet online that confirms a new Macklemore & Ryan Lewis album will be out this year (the rapper also mentioned in an interview with HOT 97 that he and Lewis are currently working on the album). In non-music news, though, Macklemore has also announced that he and his fiancée Tricia are having a baby! Congrats, you two!
Black Eyed Peas
Remember them? Will.I.Am confirmed today that a new Black Eyed Peas record is in the works to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the group. In an interview, Will said, “We’re gonna have new music, we’ll have a bunch of new experiences, I don’t wanna call them albums. We’ll have experiences and a bunch of stuff to get the PEAbodies.”
Lana Del Rey
Even though Lana Del Rey released an amazing album in 2014, she has already revealed in a new interview that she is working on new music. She specifically names a new track called Music To Watch Boys To, which we might get to hear this year? Fingers crossed!
Kanye West, Rihanna, Ty Dolla $ign & Paul McCartney
Last week, Kanye West rang in the new year with the surprise release of a new track called Only One, a beautifully emotional ode to his daughter, North West, sung from the perspective of his late-mother Donda West. Shortly after the release, Ty Dolla $ign, who sings back-up vocals on the amazing track, told Billboard that another new Kanye track will “drop soon” featuring himself, Sir Paul McCartney and Rihanna. We don’t know much about the track yet, but with that lineup of artists, we can only hope it’ll be as great as Only One!
Because we’ve been speculating since last year and, let’s admit it: WE NEED NEW MUSIC FROM RIHANNA ASAP. LIKE, NOW.
