The sun is shining, birds are chirping and it’s safe to say that summer is officially upon us, and you know what that means: Sharks, and lots of ’em. Yes, the annual Shark Week festivities are now underway and in case you’re new to the game of hammerheads and great whites, we here at Much have got your back.

Although it may seem like these days sharks are around more than ever, they’ve actually been swimming around in the mainstream for quite some time. We want to show our shark love this week by going through the fiercest and favourite sharks in the media.

Tell us if we missed any famous sharks in the comments below or @much now! Shark Week ends on Sunday, July 12 so tune in now on Discovery!

Mega Shark
Oh boy did this shark ever turn heads! The first installment of the Mega Shark series certainly made itself known. Although technically it wasn’t a huge hit with the critics, when it came to the rest of the world, they ate it up like…well, like a shark. Obviously.

Bruce From Finding Nemo
Probably one of the most menacing and yet misunderstood sharks of our generation. Bruce and his pals have tried too hard to break the carnivorous stereotypes of sharks and yet here he is hanging out right under Mega Shark. Don’t worry buddy, one day they’ll understand you.

Jaws
Well well well, if it isn’t the kingpin himself. Seriously though, you didn’t really expect us to make a shark list without Jaws did you? We’ve got to hand it to him, though; out of all the many sharks on this list, this one will probably go down in history as the most infamous. P.S. Happy belated 40th anniversary, big guy!

Street Sharks
Alright 90’s kids, lets test your REAL throwback knowledge here. Sure, you may remember Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but DO YOU REMEMBER STREET SHARKS?! It was the classic tale of four half shark/half man brothers fighting crime in the city, and yes, it was amazing. Sure, there may have been a few scientific inaccuracies here and there, but whatever, it was a cartoon about crime-fighting sharks. What more did you want?!

Shark Gummies
The official treat of Shark Week, not to mention the most delicious! We HIGHLY recommend you pick up a few packs before you settle into your next shark-featured program. No seriously, it’s a total must.

“I Say” Meme Shark
Who doesn’t love a good shark meme?! This harmless picture first made its debut somewhere on the forums of the wild internet as a response to silly comments. Today, we use it for exactly the same thing. My oh my, how times have changed.

Sharknado
In case you’ve somehow never heard of it before, Sharknado is quite frankly one of the most important movies of our generation. After all, when you can fit an entire movie plot into one made-up word, you KNOW you’ve struck gold. Oh and juuuust in case, this STILL doesn’t fill your flying shark quota, Sharknado 3 will premiere July 22nd. Set your DVR folks, you’re not gunna want to miss this one.

Infamous halftime sharks
It’s hard to believe that a mere five months ago, our lives were changed for the better. Katy Perry’s Superbowl halftime show was something none of us will forget, partly because we’re in love with everything she does, but mostly because of those notorious halftime sharks. They seriously made our dreams come true. #LeftSharkNeverForget
