Ansel Elgort, Jamie Foxx And Jon Hamm Star In New Trailer For ‘Baby Driver’

It’s been three years since actor Ansel Elgort stole the hearts of millions as the poetic and charming August Waters from John Green’s film adaptation of The Fault In Our Stars. Now Elgort is back with his latest starring role and yes, there’s a girl. But! This time she’s not dying.

Elgort stars as Baby in Edgar Wright’s latest film, Baby Driver. Playing a young man who survived a traumatic car crash that killed his parents, Baby drowns out the buzzing sound, or tinnitus, left over from the crash by constantly listening to music.

Elgort’s Baby spends his days scrolling through his iPod and working as a getaway driver for mob boss Doc, played by Kevin Spacey. The rest of Spacey’s crew includes Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm sporting Brad Pitt’s Fury haircut, and The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal. Downton Abbey and Cinderella star Lily James plays Deborah, a waitress that Baby falls in love with. Baby must decide whether to continue working for Doc or run away with Deborah, which either way results in what we assume will be an epic car chase with a killer soundtrack.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers Flea and singer Sky Ferreira also appear in the film.

Baby Driver premiered at SXSW this weekend in Austin, Texas, with the trailer coming online hours later. Described as an ‘action musical’ by Wright, the film shows off Elgort’s training as a dancer, as well as a packed soundtrack, not surprisingly from the director who brought us Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Baby Driver marks Wright’s first-time back in the directors chair since 2013’s The World’s End.

As for Elgort, the budding musician recently released his video for “Thief,” which sounds like a title that was inspired by his latest film role.

Giving The Fate of the Furious some high speed competition at the box office this year, Baby Driver is set to zoom into theatres on August 11.
