Best Dressed: SAG Awards 2016

giphy

Last Saturday marked the 22nd anniversary of the annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. This awards ceremony celebrates the work of actors in film and television, and it’s very glamorous.

From Leonardo DiCaprio practically breaking the Internet for vaping at the awards, to actress/comedian Carol Burnett winning the lifetime achievement award, there wasn’t a dull moment.

The SAG awards may celebrate excellence in acting, but we’re celebrating the excellence of fashion at the glitzy event. Keep scrolling for MUCH’s SAG awards 2016 best dressed list!

Rachel McAdams

The (proudly) Canadian actress looked like a princess in her black embellished gown at the awards this year. Wearing Elie Saab, she sparkled with an air of elegance. McAdams‘s film Spotlight won for outstanding performance by a cast that night. This look is definitely one of our favourites!

Laverne Cox

Orange Is The New Black actress Laverne Cox shows us some leg in her sexy flowing gown. This gown, designed by Atelier Prabal Gurung, definitely highlights her best assets. Also this shade of red looks absolutely stunning on the actress. Plus, we love the cape detail on the one shoulder. Orange Is The New Black won a SAG award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series.

Sofia Vergara

While Sofia Vergara may have not won any SAG awards this year, we definitely think she is still winning – in the fashion department. Her gorgeous pink gown shows off all her curves, but it shows off her fun personality too with its bright colour. Plus, we love how her clutch and shoe embellishments coordinate with the dress to a tee. Vergara’s dress is a custom gown from the Vera Wang Collection, and the look is topped off with a David Webb statement necklace. Modern Family was nominated for outstanding performance by an ensemble cast, but lost to Orange Is The New Black.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio is looking spiffy in a classic tux and bow tie. The Revenant star is wearing a tuxedo by Giorgio Armani. Leo might not have that Oscar yet, but he did win at the SAG awards this year for outstanding performance by a male actor in a lead role for The Revenant.

Queen Latifah

Queen Latifah is killing it in her sparkly custom Michael Costello dress. This look stands out for the glittery detail that covers the gown head to toe, with matching earrings and clutch to complete it. She looks radiant! The actress won an award for her work in Bessie for the outstanding performance by a female actor in a television movie or miniseries category.

Lily Rabe

American Horror Story‘s Lily Rabe looks like a breath of spring air in this beautiful yellow Lela Rose gown. She pairs it with a stack of silver bracelets, Stuart Weitzman sandals, and a Lee Savage clutch. We love the abstract looking pattern on her dress and the pop of red lipstick. #OutfitOnFleek for sure.

LOS ANGELES, CA - JANUARY 30: TV personality Brad Goreski attends the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 30, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Dan MacMedan/WireImage)

Brad Goreski

The Fashion Police co-host/E! correspondent looked dapper in his custom ISAIA tuxedo and Christian Louboutin dress shoes. We adore the mixture of textures from the soft looking velvet jacket, to the smooth dress pants, to the shiny shoes. It adds a sensory element to the outfit. Goreski’s look definitely gives Leo a run for his money!

LOS ANGELES, CA - JANUARY 30: Actress Rooney Mara arrives at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 30, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Gregg DeGuire/WireImage)

Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara let her natural beauty show with her minimalistic makeup and black Valentino gown. Her sister, Kate Mara, also wore a Valentino gown, but they said that wearing the same designer was “an accident.” Rooney Mara was nominated for outstanding performance by an actress in a supporting role for Carol, but didn’t win.

Ariel Winter

Modern Family‘s Ariel Winter looked like a subdued magical mermaid at the 2016 SAG awards. Her mermaid-style gown is by Romona Keveza. In an interview with People Style, Winter said that shopping for a dress to wear to the SAG awards was more  stressful than shopping for a prom dress! She chose well because she was definitely one of the best dressed of the night.

Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke, who you may better know as Daenerys from Game of Thrones, is looking pretty in pink. Her gown is Dior Haute Couture and has a ravishing ballgown silhouette. The look is completed with Salvatore Ferragamo shoes and Dior Fine Jewelry rings and earrings. Game of Thrones won for outstanding action performance by a stunt ensemble in a comedy or drama series.
