Big Sean is a pixelated video game hero in his new music video “Jump Out The Window, ” which dropped right after he performed it at Sunday’s MTV Movie & TV Awards.
After approaching a creepy house with a glowing interior, he realizes his girlfriend has disappeared. Picking up a game controller, he’s sucked into the video game. Realizing his Princess has been kidnapped by an unknown baddie, he jumps over chess pieces, chases the villain in Mario-esque karts, dodges sharks and fights jellyfish to save her. He even gets a few points for kicking the villain.
It’s pretty obvious that the graphics were inspired by the old 16-bit video games, but if you need a refresher, watch as Big Sean takes us through the worlds of the classic Nintendo games like Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Country and Battletoads in Battlemaniacs.
“Jump Out The Window” acts as Big Sean’s fifth video release from his latest album I Decided, after “Light,””Bounce Back,””Moves,” and “Halfway Off The Balcony.” It seems like another dream directorial duo is in the making, since the video also marks the fifth time the rapper has worked with director Lawrence Lamont, who previously worked on “Light,””Out Of Love,””I Know,” and MTV’s Best Hip Hop Video of 2015, “I Don’t Fuck With You.”
