See Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan And Rihanna In First Look At ‘Valerian’

Our first look at Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne in the upcoming blockbuster Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets has arrived and it looks amazing.

The two actors play special operatives for the government, who under the direction of their Commander, played by Clive Owen, work towards maintaining order and unity throughout their futuristic universe.

Today’s new teaser trailer gives fans a look into the world of Valerian (DeHaan) and Laureline (Delevingne), the young operatives who spend the film trying to protect the city of Alpha. The chemistry between the two actors is evident in the fast-paced trailer, which showcases stunning special effects, realistic aliens and creatures, and a hair-raising appearance by Rihanna.

Delevingne is best known for her work as a runway model, but has also quickly been carving out an impressive filmography for herself, staring in John Green’s Paper Towns adaptation and this past summer’s box ofice smash Suicide Squad. DeHaan has been an indie darling for most of his career, impressing critics with his work in The Place Beyond The Pines, Life, and Kill Your Darlings. DeHaan isn’t a stranger to blockbuster films though, having appeared in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The upcoming film is directed by French filmmaker Luc Besson, who is best known for his work writing and directing The Fifth Element and Lucy. Besson has adapted Valerian for the big screen from it’s original state as a French science fiction comic series Valérian and Laureline.

Scenes from the upcoming sci-fi film first screened in July at the San Diego Comic-Con, with both the on-screen material and director Luc Besson receiving a standing ovation.

The film also stars Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Herbie Hancock and Kris Wu.

Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets hits theatres on July 21, 2017.
