Childish Gambino Stuns With Tonight Show Performance Of ‘Redbone’

chldish

Donald Glover hit the stage at The Tonight Show last night under his musical moniker Childish Gambino and continued his year of bold and groundbreaking artistic endeavors.

Gambino and his large band, including a six-person choir, stunned during their performance of “Redbone,” with the singer wearing nothing but silver pants and two gold chains.

Las night was Gambino’s first late night appearance for his new album, performing the second single from his latest album Awaken, My Love! Taking a break from his usual musical style, Childish Gambino defies genre and convention with “Redbone,” showing off his impressively high register. Seemingly possessed by the ghost of Prince, Gambino gives listeners a beat they can groove to while urging them to ‘stay woke,’ singing, “If you want it, you can have it / If you need it, you better believe in something / We can make it / If you want it, you can have it.”

An actor, writer, comedian and musician, Donald Glover seems to be the type of artist who thrives under pressure. Glover’s critically acclaimed series Atlanta just wrapped its first season and is already renewed for a second, with the multi-talented performer writing and starring in the hit FX show. But before filming can start on Season 2, Glover is set to play a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars film. Oh, and his third album Awaken, My Love!, released under Childish Gambino, dropped December 2 and debuted at number one on the Billboard R&B chart. So yeah, Glover does ‘busy’ well.

Check out Childish Gambino performing “Redbone” below, and stay woke.
