How did you get into vlogging?

It all actually stemed from wanting to dye my hair for the first time! I had watched a million videos about how to do it—but in then end realized that how I achieved pastel hair differed quite a bit from how I had seen others do it. So I decided to record my first video, Everything You Need To Know About Pastel Hair. I had no idea filming that video would have stemmed into a career.

What’s your goal in creating vlogs?

Every video I create is because I have some kinda creative vision and image in my mind that I want to bring to life—so that’s ultimately my goal.

Tell us how you decide what to vlog about.

It usually starts off like, “How can I fit glitter into a video today?” And then we go from there.

What’s your favourite hair colour to have?

Pink! Always! Pink is home—it’s the colour I feel most confident in!

How does a DIY concept come to you?

I usually want something and I try to DIY it before spending a ton of cash on it. Almost everything I DIY is because at one point of another I have wanted that specific item (See DIY Make Up Brush Holders, DIY For Love and Lemons Bra)

Have you always been crafty?

I guess a little! I’ve always been into art—it was my favourite class in school. My mom’s really crafty so I think I got a little bit of her talents.

What’s a DIY you’ve come up with, that you still use all the time?

The DIY Tassel Jacket is a staple in my wardrobe. I made that because I wanted to wear it, and I do! Also, every couple months I always find myself making a new flower crown for something!

What’s the messiest project you’ve ever taken on?

SUNSET. HAIR. TUTORIAL. While this one’s not all that crafty—it was five hair colours. After each colour I had to wipe my gloves off. It took six hours, and I definitely cried at least once.

What’s something no one told you/you didn’t expect about vlogging?

To be honest, no one really told me anything. I went in blindfolded. I didn’t really even have YouTube friends until about a year or two ago. I didn’t sign with a network for a long time. Everything I learned about YouTube was self-taught, when I started I didn’t even know you could make a living from it—I was just doing it for fun. Heck, every day I’m learning new things and still being surprised.

What’s your all-time favourite snack when filming – i.e. filming fuel?

I don’t eat while filming! I’m actually the worst for starting filming at like 9 a.m. and not finishing until 9 p.m. and forgetting to eat all day. Need to work on that bad habit!

Who are your idols?

Ellie Goulding.

What’s your pet peeve?

When people have a song ringtone set to notify them when they get a text message…

What do you look for in a friendship?

Kind souls. Someone who is easy to talk to and wants to go to HomeSense with me every week to see the new stock.

What advice might you have for a creative girl looking to also become a vlogger/personality in the online space?

I would say just go for it. Let your creative mind flow and create videos or posts that you’re passionate about. Viewers can tell when you aren’t making content you love—so stay true to yourself and use social media as a way to put your art into the world.

What’s a dream you have, that you hope to fulfill in the future?

I would love to eventually release a line of #GRLGNG merchandise. Maybe own a farm and rescue more dogs.

If someone has never seen your videos, why should they start watching now?

I just rescued two dogs. So I have three dogs and they make a lot of appearances…
