Degrassi Stars Still Rocking Your World Today

Mon, July, 20 by

Drake is far from the bottom on our list of the most celebrated Degrassi stars moving on to become A-list celebrities, but he’s not the only one, and he won’t be the last…

As we countdown to the season 14 premiere of Degrassi, we’re counting down Degrassi stars still rocking our world today. Check ’em out below and share in the comments which actors/actresses still get you pumped up!

Tune in to the final season on MTV, premiering TONIGHT at 9e/6p. If you need to catch up, you can watch the first half of season 14 of, and relive seasons 12 and 13 on CraveTV.

Aubrey Drake Graham – Jimmy Brooks

Drake doesn’t just rock your world, he rocks the entire world. After playing Degrassi’s Jimmy Brooks—a basketball star left paralyzed after a tragic school shooting—the actor ditched the name Aubrey Graham and reinvented himself as Drake; a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter from ‘the 6’. Drake is still producing records today, he’s won countless awards, including a Grammy, and founded his own label under the name OVO. But you already knew that!

Nina Dobrev – Mia Jones

Nina Dobrev wasn’t always known as the Bulgarian babe caught between brothers on M3’s hit series, The Vampire Diaries. Before she was Elena, she was Mia Jones—a 13-year-old teen mom at Degrassi High.

Shenae Grimes – Darcy Edwards

Shenae Grimes kick-started her acting career portraying the role of Darcy Edwards—captain of the cheer squad and big sister to fan-favourite, Clare Edwards, turned bad-egg after being devastatingly drugged and raped at a party. Grimes parted ways with her Degrassi co-stars in 2008 to take on the role of Annie Wilson in the spin-off series 90210. She continues to pursue her acting career while living happily ever after married to British musician, Josh Beech.

Miriam McDonald – Emma Nelson

Miriam McDonald played long-standing Degrassi character, Emma Nelson—the product of the show’s first ever teen pregnancy. Emma was portrayed by various actresses over the years, but it wasn’t until McDonald took on the role that Emma became a full-time character. After her days on Degrassi, McDonald went on to appear in an episode of Space’s hit show, Orphan Black, alongside Tatiana Maslany.

Lauren Collins – Paige Michalchuk

Lauren Collins stuck with the MTV family after playing Paige Michalchuk on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Collins hosted the MTV’s original series, 1 Girl 5 Gays, discussing outrageous and important topics surrounding relationship, love and life in the LGBT community.

Aislinn Paul – Clare Edwards

This one is still rocking your world as Clare Edwards in the current season of Degrassi, and you can count on her continuing to do so in the future. The actress recently accepted a role in the upcoming series, Heroes Reborn, which is set to premiere in 2015.
