They tried to shut him down. They tried to tell him he couldn’t do it. Who is ‘they’ again? It doesn’t matter, DJ Khaled is above them. Now, he’s on top of the world, as the king of Snapchat has announced that he will be joining Beyonce, the Queen of everything on her Formation World Tour.
The 40-year-old DJ and producer announced the news yesterday on what social media platform? Snapchat, of course. But for those DJ Khaled fans who aren’t as into the Snapchat craze as everyone else (but how could you be a fan of the man and NOT be on Snapchat?), he also announced the news on Instagram, along with a very lengthy, inspirational caption which we’ve come to expect from the We The Best frontman.

This is a major key for Khaled, as he has seemingly sky-rocketed to meme-status of popularity towards the end of last year. Contrary to many memes, this one doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. In recent years, Khaled’s live shows have mainly been hosted at clubs and small venues, so making the switch to sold-out arenas must be quite the blessing.
On top of opening for one of the biggest female artists in the business, making loads of money from his favourite quotes, and signing new record deals, Khaled is gearing up to release his next album, Major Key. Khaled’s last album, I Changed A Lot, sold only 25,000 copies in the first week. Now that he’s become a topic of discussion all over the Internet, and of course opening for Beyonce, we may see a spike in the sales for the new project. Let’s not forget that Khaled has been in this business for close to a decade, and has solidified himself as a summertime hit-maker.
The 41-show world tour kicks off on April 27 in Miami, and wraps up in Spain on August 3. This is Beyonce’s first tour since her On The Run in 2014 where she was accompanied by her husband Jay Z.
