Drake Takes A Gamble In Short Film ‘Please Forgive Me’

please-forgive-me

Drake is returning to acting and this time around it’s much more violent than his days as Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi and that character got shot.

In his new short film Please Forgive Me, Drake plays a rookie gangster in South Africa with a beautiful girlfriend, played by model Fanny Neguesha, who catches the eye of a gang leader. When she’s offered $1 million to sleep with the gangster, Drake encourages her to take the money, then puts into place a plan that seemed pretty faulty from the start.

If Neguesha’s tattoos and the styling of the two twins that are members of the opposing gang reminded you of Rihanna, there’s likely a few reasons. Not only is Drake rumoured to be dating Rihanna, but Anthony Mandler, who co-directed Please Forgive Me with Drake, has also directed 18 of Rihanna’s music videos, including the violent “Man Down” and “Russian Roulette.”

This isn’t the first time Mandler has placed Drake in the middle of a gun war. The two also worked together on Drake’s 2010 video for “Find Your Love,” which ended in Drizzy again resorting to violence over a love triangle.

The Indecent Proposal-inspired short film, which premiered last night on Apple, features the Views songs “One Dance” and “Controlla.” This is the second time Drake has opted to release a long-form music video instead of a number of individual videos, following 2015’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late film Jungle, which was shot in Drake’s hometown of Toronto.

Please Forgive Me is streaming now on iTunes.
