Dom Betrays The Family In New Fate Of The Furious Trailer

fate-of-the-furious

Start your engines, it’s time for the next installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise. The first trailer for the eighth F&F film, The Fate Of The Furious (not The Fate of the Eight?) dropped last night and is packed with enough cars, chase scenes, punches, betrayals and corny one-liners to fill eight more movies.

The old gang, minus the late Paul Walker and actor Sung Kang’s Han, whose character was killed in the sixth film, are back together, but not for long. Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto has inexplicably turned his back on his family, cozying up to Charlize Theron’s new villain Cipher, who has recruited Dom for his driving and his soft lips. We assume.

Dom’s actions get Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs character thrown in jail along with sworn enemy Deckhard Shaw (Jason Statham), until Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody is able to bail him out. Of course, this comes moments after a huge jail-wide brawl.

The gang is forced to turn against Dom and battle it out on the streets of Cuba, New York and the icy, snow-covered terrain of the Arctic Ocean. There’s a submarine, guys. And we thought they were going to run out of vehicles!

Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Lucas Black, and Elsa Pataky are all back for the eighth film, which also features franchise newcomers Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren and Theron. Jordana Brewster is expected to reprise her role as Mia after her character ‘retired’ from the crew along with her partner Brian, the late Paul Walker.

Fate of the Furious speeds into theatres on April 14, 2017.
