The NBA All-Star weekend is finally in full force! From today until Sunday Feb. 14, celebrities and star-athletes will be taking Toronto by storm for a weekend of festivities, culminating in Sunday’s All-Star game. A high-profile event like this one could be a little bit confusing to follow, especially when there are so many events leading up to the big day.
Don’t worry because MUCH has got you covered, so you could run through the 6ix with a sense of direction this weekend. And if you want even more access to All-Star weekend, be sure to follow along with Much’s own Tyrone Edwards! He’ll taking over our Snapchat, keep up and follow @MuchOfficial!
1. SNKRS XPRESS
The SNKRS XPRESS is a TTC streetcar transformed into a mobile shoe store that’ll be running all weekend. Exclusively for Nike+ members, people sign up online for a time slot to hop on the special streetcar that brings them to 277 Queen St W. Here, guests pick up their official ticket, complete with boarding time, then hop on the special decked-out silver streetcar to shop for the newest and hottest styles in sneaker fashion while on board. If you’re a regular commuter, have no fear, there will be regular streetcars making their rounds too.
2. The Ultimate Sneaker Show
If you’re a sneakerhead, visiting The Ultimate Sneaker Show on Feb. 13 is the place for you. At this showcase, guests could sell, trade, or buy sneakers, or even network with other sneaker lovers and vendors. Just think of all those shoes packed under one roof!
3. OVO x Air Jordan Release
Drake, AKA Toronto’s hometown hero, is releasing his collaborative clothing/shoe line with his brand, OVO, and Air Jordan. The release is set for Saturday at the OVO Flagship Store on Dundas West and the pop-up Air Jordan store on 306 Yonge Street. Act fast to get your gear because people are already lining up – nay, setting up camp – in front of the Air Jordan store.
4. True North
Taking place on the newly built stage at Roundhouse Park, True North is a concert series that’ll be taking place over the course of this weekend. Acts performing include Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, and Usher. The official website for the event says that it’s “a custom-built, vip experience in the heart of the city.” Like most of the events happening around the city, it WILL be star-studded.
5. Maxim All-Star Party
The Maxim All-Star party is a club event going down Feb. 12 at Muzik nightclub. Snoop Dogg and Kardinall Offishall are hosting the event, and there’ll be 100 lingerie models present too.
6. Alt Star Party
If the typical club scene isn’t your thing, the Alt Star Party is taking place tonight at Lee’s Palace. Matt and Luke Bonner are appearing here, while the show will be headlined by Girl Talk. There’ll likely be a lot more celebrity appearances too.
7. Celebrity All-Star Game
Head over to the Ricoh Coliseum tonight to watch two teams of celebrities duke it out on the court. The coaches? Kevin Hart and Drake. The players? Toronto Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista, the Property Brothers Drew and Johnathan Scott, Arcade Fire’s Win Butler, Nick Cannon, Jason Sudeikis, and more. Drake’s team represents Canada, while Hart’s is the USA team. The game will also air live on ESPN if you’re missing seeing the game in person.
8. Celebrity Game After Party
Kevin Hart hosts this nearly sold out party at Roy Thompson Hall tonight following the celebrity game. It’s more of a formal event since “dress code is enforced.” Ticket options range from $160 to $565 depending on the package the guest chooses. The priciest package even includes a celebrity meet and greet with Kevin Hart and his “celebrity friends.”
9. NBA All-Star Practice
If you didn’t snag tickets to the big All-Star game on Sunday, maybe you managed to score for the NBA All-Star practice on Saturday. Taking place at Ricoh Coliseum, the practice will start at 11 a.m. – bright and early (well, early for basketball). The practice is sold out, but tickets available at resell value are not nearly as high as those for the NBA All-Star Game, which are being re-sold from $800 to over $1,000.
10. NBA All-Star Game
This Valentine’s Day, the moment basketball fans have been waiting for all weekend comes – the NBA All-Star Game. Taking place at the Air Canada Centre, only celebrities or those lucky enough to possess tickets will be at this very exclusive event. There’s even a rumour going around that Drake dropped $5 million for an entire row of floor seats. Either way, tickets to this event are much-coveted. If you’ve got some, enjoy the game.
