Justin Bieber, Drake And The Weeknd Lead Juno Award Nominations

Juno Nominations

Canadians released some of 2015’s biggest albums and took over the international airwaves, making history when our very own Drake, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd took up the top three spots on the Billboard chart. The nominations for the 2016 Juno Awards were announced today and reflected the success of the country’s biggest exports.

Leading the charge was The Weeknd, who scored six nominations and was also added to the performer lineup. Close behind him were Justin Bieber and Drake, who can both add five nominations to their already impressive history with the Juno Awards.

Performer Alessia Cara scored a nomination for R&B Soul Recording Of The Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Single Of The Year, thanks to her track Here, with fellow performer Shawn Mendes nominated for Best Album for his debut Handwritten.

In addition to Alessia Cara, Shawn Mendes and The Weekend, country singer Dean Brody and pop singer Bryan Adams are also scheduled to perform at Calgary’s Saddledome Stadium on Sunday, April 3.

Check out the list of nominees below (click here for the full list) and watch the 2016 Juno Awards on Sunday, April 3 at 8E/5P on CTV and CTV GO.
