Kanye West And Beyoncé Just Dropped New Merch, But Whose Is Better?

Beyonce and Kanye Merch

Kanye West announced last week that 21 pop up stores around the world would open on Saturday, giving fans the opportunity to buy West’s Life of Pablo merch. Not the only one to keep their fans looking fly, Beyoncé updated the merch section of her website to include new Lemonade-inspired products.

As two of the biggest artists in the world, new products for sale from Beyoncé and West mean many very happy fans. Both artists have been praised for their merch in the past, even expanding to work with retailers, such as West’s Yeezy’s with Adidas and Beyoncé’s Ivy Park workout line. But if we’re only looking at this week’s new items, how do they compare?

cool stuff

Beyoncé’s prices range from $25 for a cell phone case or a bag of patches to $60 for a hoody or crew neck sweatshirt. West also has lower ticket items, including $45 for a New York hat and $55 for an ‘I Feel Like Pablo’ t-shirt, but his range was much greater, going up to $250 for a satin bomber and $325 for a military-style jacket.

Winner: Kanye – The rapper goes above and beyond typical merch to include high fashion products.

West’s site is showing ‘Sold Out’ for all 21 locations, while Beyoncé’s website promises that items will be available in September.

Winner: Beyoncé – At least we still have a shot at a sweet new phone case.

Beyoncé’s merch is available on the singer’s website, while West’s products could only be bought at his pop up shops and now on eBay for an inflated price.

Winner: Beyoncé – The internet is in every major city and town, not just the 21 locations chosen by West.

Beyoncé and Kanye take inspiration from their albums for their new products, with both artists remaining consistent with the look of the albums and the lyrical content on their merch.

Brand Promotion

West is one of the only artists known for actually wearing his own merchandise, making himself kinda relatable (it was bound to happen). While Beyoncé may be rocking a ‘Hold Up’ hoodie while she’s chilling at home—pictures or it didn’t happen.

Winner: Kanye West

Overall Winner

It’s a tie! Whether you want a Lemonade tote bag that every member of the Beyhive can rock or love the exclusivity of a rare Pablo hat, Beyoncé and Kanye West together can fulfill the needs of even the most discerning fans. Now don’t even get us started on Justin Bieber’s $1,675 bomber jacket.
