The Strange And Surprising List Of People Who Have Heard Kanye’s New Album

Swish Listeners

With the release of his seventh studio album set for February 11, Kanye West is gearing up to do things in Yeezus fashion. Literally. The rapper and producer is planning on debuting Waves in theatres across the world on February 11, showing a live feed from Madison Square Gardens. With Yeezy Season 3 debuting the same day, we assume the movie theatre experience will be a fashion show set to the new album. Or just Kanye standing on a stage in $5,000 shoes while the album plays on a boom box. Nothing will surprise us.

After more than a year of speculation about the upcoming album, West has finally begun releasing information in the past few months. One of the biggest reveals was a name change this week, which sparked a Twitter war with Wiz Khalifa that’s giving Drake and Meek Mill a run for their diss-tracks.

West’s most recent album name change doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Before settling on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in 2010, the album was to be called Good Ass Job. Before we had SWISH, we had the tentatively titled So Help Me God. Don’t run out and get your Waves tattoo just yet. There’s still a few weeks to go.

Thanks to West’s hype woman and wife Kim Kardashian, fans have been privy to three singles as part of GOOD Music Fridays. West has also just released the tracklist for the album, which shows collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Vic Mensa, Sia, Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign.

At this point, Waves has managed to not leak ahead of its release date, but that doesn’t mean only West and his producers have heard the album. Today we’re looking at the surprising list of people who have experienced their own Yeeyz listening session.

Seth Rogen

After parodying the Bound 2 video with friend James Franco, Rogen came face to face with Yeezus in the lobby of a hotel. Quickly informing West that he was indeed a fan, Rogen and his wife, actress and writer Lauren Miller, were invited into a van West had parked in front of the hotel. Super normal, right? West then proceeded to rap his entire album over beats he played off his laptop. According to Rogen, the album is dope.

Lamar Odom

How do you help a friend who has just woken up from a coma after having a near-death experience? If you’re Kanye West, you play them your new album. At least, that’s what West did for his former brother-in-law, NBA star Lamar Odom. According to the Kardashians, Odom continues to progress on his road to recovery, and we’re pretty sure it’s all thanks to Waves.

Will Smith

During the recording of Waves, West was in the studio with Hollywood A-lister Will Smith, the Fresh Prince himself. The two recorded eight songs together in an effort to restart Smith’s music career, though none of the songs have been released.

20 People In A Club

During 2014’s Paris Fashion Week, Theophilus London posted an Instagram message saying that Kanye played his new album three times in a row for party goers in a small club. We’re not sure how many of the songs from that first listening party will make it onto Waves, or how to get invited to parties with Kanye West and 20 other people.

The Kardashian and Jenner Women

Thanks to this Instagram pic from Kanye, we can see that Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, as well as Kylie Jenner have all heard the album. If we’re to believe these scribbles, Producers Noah Goldstein and Andrew Dawson, rappers T Mills, Doug E. Fresh, Chance The Rapper, Big Boy, and Swizz Beats, and artist Vanessa Beecroft were all ‘here’ as well.
