Kelly Clarkson Is The Queen Of Covers And You Know It

Melody

Mon, October, 27 by

Last week, we posted a video of Kelly Clarkson covering Sam Smith’s Stay With Me (and arguably one-upping the British singer) and now, we have yet another mind-blowing cover by the pop star. This time, she puts a dramatic flair to Taylor Swift’s hit single Shake It Off. Her version starts off with a smoky, soulful verse before kicking into the upbeat chorus and it gave all of us chills; even Taylor Swift lost her mind over Clarkson’s rendition:

As we mentioned previously, Clarkson can sing anything and absolutely kill it. We’ve seen it time and time again that she can not only slay her own songs but take over other stars’ hits and not only make it her own but even overshadow the original. That’s a serious sign of an outstanding singer.

And, I mean, this isn’t news to anyone. When we were first introduced to Clarkson, she was owning covers in the audition round of the very first American Idol.

We still can’t watch Clarkson’s cover of Natural Woman without borderline crying at those high notes.

And, okay, this wasn’t her best but she still asserted her own style and attitude in Aretha Franklin’s classic, Respect.

Similar to Taylor Swift, Clarkson covered a ton of songs when she went on tour back in 2012 and even there are too many to post here, we can guarantee you that every single one was on-point. Seriously, there is nothing Clarkson CAN’T cover.

SHE EVEN TOOK ON EMINEM (AND YES, IT WAS GOOD).

PRAISE KELLY CLARKSON, Y’ALL. But here’s a serious question now that we’ve established that she is the queen of all covers: WHEN ARE WE GETTING NEW MATERIAL FROM QUEEN KELLY?
