Kendrick Lamar Announces New Album ‘DAMN.’

The countdown to Kendrick Lamar’s fourth album is officially on. After weeks of teasing, which included the promotional single “The Heart Part Four” instructing listeners to get ready for April 7, Lamar has finally unveiled both the album title and release date for the follow-up LP to 2015’s Grammy-winning To Pimp A Butterfly.

Set to be released later this week on April 14, DAMN. features 14 new tracks, including guest appearances from Rihanna and U2.

Lamar has already released the first single “Humble,” including a cinematic and religiously-charged music video, which dropped on March 31 (watch it here).

The track has received praise for both its video and feminist subject matter. “Humble” is already the highest charting single of Lamar’s career and the highest debuting rap single since Eminem’s 2010 track “Not Afraid.” Following the release of their third mixtape The Two Of Us earlier this month, Beyoncé-signed artists Chloe x Halle dropped a short, but beautiful cover of “Humble” to their Instagram page.

Gearing up for DAMN., Lamar posted the album cover on his Instagram page today, which was recently wiped clean to prepare for the new album. Lamar kept the album art simple for DAMN., which features the rapper standing in front of a red brick wall, wearing a white t-shirt and barely looking at the camera.
