Lana Del Rey Debuts Emotional New Song On Instagram

Like many celebrities, Lana Del Rey spent this past weekend dancing in the Palm Springs desert at weekend one of Coachella. The singer has a long history with the festival, performing there in the past and often attending the annual event in Indio, California.

But in a new Instagram post, Del Rey reveals that she had mixed feelings about participating in the festival this weekend, explaining that having fun and dancing with friends felt irresponsible and troubling in the wake of the United State’s mounting tensions with other countries.

Writing to her 9 million Instagram followers, Del Rey said “I’m not gonna lie- I had complex feelings about spending the weekend dancing whilst watching tensions w North Korea mount. I find it’s a tightrope between being vigilantly observant of everything going on in the world and also having enough space and time to appreciate God’s good earth the way it was intended to be appreciated.”

Del Rey, who dropped “Love”, her first single from the upcoming fifth studio album Lust For Life in February, went on to say that her conflicted feelings inspired her to stop by her favourite spot in California to write a song. “On my way home I found myself compelled to visit an old favorite place of mine at the rim of the world highway where I took a moment to sit down by the sequoia grove and write a little song. I just wanted to share this in hopes that one individual’s hope and prayer for peace might contribute to the possibility of it in the long run.”

The short, impromptu performance of solo vocals ends with Del Rey panning around the scenic background, showing off the California sequoia grove that looks like the perfect spot for some inspiration.
