For a second year in a row, the MMVA stage is set to receive a super hot performance from Nick Jonas. The former Jonas Brother member delivered a sexy rendition of his song Chains during last year’s big show, a performance that set the bar high for his return on Sunday, June 19.
Jonas has been busy since last year’s MMVAs, starring in the TV series Kingdom and appearing on Scream Queens. Now, Jonas is getting back to the music and gearing up to release his third solo studio album.
Last Year Was Complicated is scheduled to drop just a few days before the MMVAs on June 10, with the first single Close, featuring Tove Lo, hitting airwaves at the end of March.
Jonas posted a series of tweets about the new album, saying “When I first started making I thought I knew what it would be about. Then I had a break up. It then became very clear what this thing would be about…And that I would really need to dig deep. Shit is too real sometimes… Reliving some of these real experiences through this music is hard. But I know it’s important that I do it. I want to be an open book in my art.”
Jonas also tweeted the full tracking listing for Last Year Was Complicated, which includes Chainsaw, Touch, Voodoo, Champagne Problems, Good Girls, The Difference and more. In addition to Tove Lo, the new album will also feature Big Sean, Ty Dolla $ign, and basketball legend Allen Iverson. That one should be interesting.
Following the MMVAs, Jonas is set to hit the road with his longtime friend and fellow popstar Demi Lovato. The duo will be embarking on the Future Now Tour, which kicks off June 24 in Florida. The 44 date tour includes six Canadian dates.
In addition to Nick Jonas, Alessia Cara and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have also been announced as performers for the 2016 MMVAs.
