Nicki Minaj And Ariana Grande To Perform At MTV VMAs, Kanye West To Present

Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj are set to reunite on the MTV VMA stage this Sunday! The two powerhouse vocalists will perform their new single “Side To Side” off Grande’s 2016 album Dangerous Woman, with the video dropping online later that night.

Sticking with this year’s VMA theme of the power of creativity, Grande narrates her announcement video with her thoughts on the VMA stage.

“When you take the stage at the VMAs, you step into another world. The drama, the design, the artistry ignites a fire,” says Grande. “It’s this kind of energy that perpetuates creativity and gives me the power to share my voice in a way that’s never been heard before. Because it’s not just a performance, it’s a statement.”

The two previously performed together at the MTV VMAs in 2014, opening the show along with Jessie J for their killer rendition of “Bang Bang.”

In addition to Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, the Chainsmokers have also just been announced as performers for Sunday’s show. They’ll be joined on stage by their “Closer” collaborator Halsey. That’s not to be confused with “Close” by Nick Jonas and Tove Lo, although they’ll both be at Sunday’s show as well.

In addition to Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, as well as The Chainsmokers and Halsey, Sunday’s show will also feature performances from Britney Spears and G-Eazy, Future, Nick Jonas and Ty Dolla $ign, and Rihanna, who will also receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Today’s announcement also includes an impressive list of presenters, including Jimmy Fallon, Olympian Michael Phelps and gold-winning Olympic gymnasts Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian and Aly Raisman, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Alicia Keys, Ansel Elgort, Bebe Rexha, Fifth Harmony, Jaden Smith, Rita Ora, Shameik Moore and of course, Tove Lo.

Kim Kardashian West is also slated to present alongside her husband Kanye, who has reportedly been given four minutes to do whatever he wants during the show. So yeah, you’re gonna want to watch.

Sunday’s show won’t have any shortage of incredible musical performances and laughs. Comedian Nicole Byer, SNL alum Jay Pharoah and pre-show performer DJ Khaled will provide commentary throughout the live show, with Key and Peele stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele also appearing.

The pre-show, which begins at 8E/5P, will feature performances from Alessia Cara, DJ Khaled, Lukas Graham and Jidenna.

The 2016 MTV VMAs will air live for the first time from Madison Square Gardens in New York City this Sunday starting with the pre-show at 8E/5P on Much and MTV.
