One Direction are set to take a two-year hiatus starting this March, an understandable move considering their years of nonstop touring and album promotion. Or, they’re just really tired of being asked about Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift.
The foursome appeared on The Ellen Show this week to promote their fifth studio album Made In The A.M.’s, and in classic DeGeneres form, tackled Malik’s highly publicized departure from the group.
While bandmembers Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson spoke briefly about Malik, saying his decision to leave One Direction was not a surprise and that they have spoken to him since the news became public, Harry Styles was much more reluctant to discuss his former bandmate.
The interview didn’t get any easier for Styles after that. The daytime talk show host had the four Brits play one of her favorite games, Never Have I Ever. When questions about whether an ex had written a song about them or if they had dated someone twice their age, Ellen rightfully called Styles out on his obvious lying. Nice try, Harry.
The band also performed Made In The AM’s lead single, Drag Me Down, in front of a crowd of thousands, which was also likely the most relaxing part of the day for Styles.
