Rihanna Announces The Anti World Tour

Rihanna World Tour Feat

If you watched last’s American Music Awards you may have noticed some really weird commercials. We’re not talking about Miss Piggy performing Adele’s Hello. That one made total sense and reinvigorated our love for both Miss Piggy and Adele.

No, were talking about the ads with little kids in old bedrooms and long, dark hallways. Sound like every horror movie you’ve ever seen? We thought so too, until the final commercial included Rihanna walking towards the children. We still have no idea what was happening in the story line, but now Rihanna has announced a new world tour, so we’re considering this puzzle solved.

Rihanna’s Anti World Tour kicks off February 26, 2016 in San Diego and will be followed by more than 40 shows across North America and Europe, including seven Canadian stops. Rapper Travis Scott will act as Rihanna’s North American opener, while Big Sean and Toronto’s own The Weeknd will perform during her European dates.

Rihanna is continuing her partnership with TIDAL because she must really owe Jay Z some favours and early tickets will be available on the music streaming site starting November 30.

News of a world tour comes as a surprise from Rihanna, who hasn’t released an album since 2012’s Unapologetic, which included the singles Diamonds and Stay featuring Mikky Ekko. Rihanna has released a handful of singles since then, including American Oxygen, Bitch Better Have My Money and FourFiveSeconds with Kanye West and Paul McCartney in January.

Rumours have been circulating around Rihanna’s eighth studio album for the past two years, which initially was thought to be called R8 and then changed to Anti, but we’ve still yet to hear a concrete release date.

With today’s news of a world tour, the rumour mill is again churning, this time with whispers that Anti will also be released this week. Featuring songs written with Natalia Kills and Canadian electronic artist Kiesza, Anti will be the first album Rihanna has released not in back to back years. Consider us eagerly excited.
