CTV and Much have teamed up with WE to celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation and Canadian youth with WE DAY CANADA, premiering Saturday, July 8 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV, CTV GO, and Much. Hosted by Canadian NHL player and philanthropist P.K. Subban, the one-hour special highlights the most inspiring moments from the WE Day event on Parliament Hill in Ottawa over Canada Day weekend. A-list performers and speakers appear in the broadcast to celebrate Canada’s young change makers and their ability to build a stronger, more compassionate Canada over the next 150 years.
The special features performances by the JUNO Award-winning Canadian rock band Barenaked Ladies; multi-platinum recording group and WE Ambassadors Hedley; entertainer Lilly Singh featuring Humble the Poet; and singer-songwriter and WE ambassador Nelly Furtado. WE co-founders Craig and Marc Kielburger are joined by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to address the thousands gathered on Parliament Hill. Gord Downie also makes an appearance with Pearl and Daisy Wenjack for a surprise performance of Downie’s song “Stranger,” written about Pearl and Daisy’s brother Chanie Wenjack.
