Taylor Swift’s 5 Most Emo Moments

Emo Swift

Taylor Swift’s second ad for Apple Music dropped today and instead of falling off a treadmill while running to Drake and Future’s Jumpman, the singer thankfully remained standing for the duration of the ad.

In addition to music to work out to, Swift’s latest Apple Music ad shows that the streaming system provides music to get ready to. Because you know, why work out if you’re not gonna go out, right? If you flex your arm in am empty living room, does anyone know you went to the gym?

Swift’s new Apple Music ad is set to Jimmy Eat World’s The Middle, which may seem like a surprising choice for a country-turned-pop star, but let’s not forget; Taylor Swift is super emo. Here are five examples.

1. One Word: Myspace

Before she was the queen of Instagram, Tumblr, and Twitter, Taylor Swift was cruising Myspace like the rest of us emo kids, listening to heartbreak anthems by bands with three words in their name.

2. I Knew You Were Trouble

The eyeliner. The haircut. The skinny jeans. The emotionally-wrought spoken word poetry. The *feels*.

3. Dashboard-Freaking-Confessional

Hands down this is the best birthday present one emo girl could give to her emo bestie.

4. The Tears

Emo music was the soundtrack to many teen’s formative years, which is a time of high emotions and trying to figure WTF is going on ALL THE TIME. Want some emotional lyrics? Listen to one Swift song. Any song. The woman is an emo scholar.

5. The Apple Music Ad

Swift should be wearing white underwear and a tank top or at least some wide-legged Modrobes pants for this bit, but we still appreciate how hard she’s rocking to the godfathers of emo. Also, anyone else not at all surprised that Swift’s bathroom is as big as most people’s first apartment? Us neither.
