Today In Genius Casting: Aubrey Plaza is Grumpy Cat

GrumpyAubrey

Any Grumpy Cat enthusiast who has been following her latest endeavours know that she has a new movie coming out. Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever is currently shooting and will premiere on Lifetime on November 29.

But what wasn’t clear was how we would hear from Tardar Sauce herself (that is Grumpy Cat’s real name). Turns out we will hear her internal thoughts and those thoughts will be voiced by *duh duh duh DUH!* Aubrey Plaza!

A lot of the roles Aubrey has played are basically human Grumpy Cats. The greatest example is her role of April Ludgate in Parks and Recreation. She started out as the grumpiest of grumpy characters but has exposed her kind heart thanks to her boss Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) and her husband Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt).

But there are some April lines in Parks and Recreation that you could also just copy and paste in to the Grumpy Cat movie and they would fit in quite well.

Here are five times Aubrey Plaza auditioned for the role of Grumpy Cat and may have not even known it:

The Moon or Quit: April demands that she represent the Moon in the model United Nations Leslie is putting together.

Ben Reads His Star Wars Fan Fiction: April and her boss Ben are stuck in a parking garage so he starts reading her his Star Wars fan fiction.

April Loves Animals But Hates People: Okay so Grumpy Cat doesn’t seem to love much, but April thinks that animals should be rewarded for not being people.

April Shows Off Her Colourful Side: When she is called on to use her Spanish skills, April reveals where she gets her liveliness from.

You can catch Aubrey in Parks and Recreation every week night on Much at 10:30E/7:30P!
