Prom season is here and while it’s been years since we dressed up for an event like that, we do enjoy living vicariously through other people’s stories. And everyone’s got a prom story, whether it’s good, bad, embarrassing or totally boring. This is where we tell you celebs are just like us — they all have a prom story (or two) to share so we’ve compiled tales from some of our fave celebs below so that you can see how amazing/terrible/significant/insignificant prom really is!
Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato
While Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato didn’t really attend prom together, they did crash one back in 2009 when they were in Toronto! “We walked into the ballroom and just started dancing,” Gomez told Seventeen Magazine. “After a couple songs, people started to notice we were there. I got scared I was going to get in trouble, but all the students let us dance with them.”
The former High School Musical star is not shy when it comes to talking about his sex life so when asked where the craziest place he’s ever had sex is, during a promotional interview for That Awkward Moment, this was Efron’s response: “I think it was at prom with my girlfriend of three years.” Well, sounds like Zac had a good time that night!
We don’t know what idiot would’ve done this, but Reese Witherspoon’s prom date actually stood her up. While that guy is probably kicking himself now, another lucky man got to take Reese to prom: her dad! Aww!
The Teen Wolf star has a similar story to Witherspoon, revealing to Seventeen Magazine: “I went to prom with my boyfriend, but after the dance he left me at a party all by myself. It was awful!”
Although Taylor Swift missed out on her actual prom, due to a rigorous touring schedule, she did get to experience it all on MTV’s Once Upon A Prom. Swift went as a fan’s prom date!
Prom probably gives actor Jonah Hill both good and bad memories, as he revealed in an interview: “I got sick on prom night…while making out with my girlfriend.”
While Hill’s 21 Jump Street co-star Channing Tatum has no memory of his prom night: “I don’t really remember much about my prom because I was hammered.” PAR-TAY!
Unfortunately for Natalie Portman, her prom date wasn’t the greatest planner: he forgot to rent a hotel room so the two had to sleep in a car on prom night.
Much like some of her peers, Miley Cyrus missed out on her prom because she was busy filming The Last Song. Don’t feel too bad for her, though, as she assures that she probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it anyway. “I would be like the single longer at the back of the prom,” she said in an interview. “That’s the worst! I am not going to do that. That is like the worst. You shouldn’t even go.”
While other kids went to public schools, The Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson was home-schooled, which meant he went to a home-school prom. “It’s so depressing!” he said in an interview. “Basically you get a bunch of home-school kids together and they put them in a place and make them try to interact with one another typically home-schooled kids are not very good interacting with human beings so that was quite the awkward experience, to say the least.”
Jimmy Kimmel also had some fun conversations with celebs recently about their prom (or lack of prom) experiences. Take a look below!
