The people have spoken and on Sunday night, the E! People’s Choice Awards celebrated the best in music, movies, TV, and social media. The annual show had a little something for everyone, with movie stars and YouTubers sharing tables while TV actors and reality stars rubbed shoulders. Loved ones got shout-outs, fans were thanked, and many winners paid homage to the first responders currently fighting the California fires.
The People’s Choice Awards are known for having a little something for everyone, and on Sunday night we saw the biggest names in every field of entertainment take the stage for speeches. Here are the best mic moments from the 2018 People’s Choice Awards.
Nicki Minaj is a woman who sees an opportunity and capitalizes on it, and we love that about her. The MC took home the award for the Female Artist of 2018 and used her stage time to shoot her shot with Michael B. Jordan. Cuffing season is here, y’all!
We don’t often look to the Kardashians for moments of important social discourse, but while accepting the award for Choice Reality Show Kim Kardashian used her stage time to make a powerful statement. The makeup mogul sent her prayers out to those affected by the horrific shooting this week at a Thousand Oaks bar in California as well as those affected by the devastating wildfires currently burning throughout the state. Kardashian, who was joined by mom Kris and sisters Kourtney, Khloe and Kendall, dedicated the award to California’s first responders. At least someone who visited the White House this year is better for it.
You can pick up Justin Timberlake’s new book “Hindsight” wherever fine books are sold.
Actor, writer and comedian Melissa McCarthy accepted the Icon Award on Sunday night and split her time between listing the many assets of presenter Allison Janney and applauding the public for voting and making their voices heard. If anyone can unite the U.S., it’s Melissa McCarthy.
Okay, so BTS weren’t actually at the People’s Choice Awards, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t excited to see them take home the award for Best Group of 2018.
Black Panther made box office history this year, so it’s fitting that star Danai Gurira continues to make history, taking home the award for Choice Action Star. The only woman in the category, Gurira beat out her fellow nominees for her role as General Okoye. Wakanda forever!
If there was any doubt that country singer Blake Shelton is in love with pop singer Gwen Stefani, the pair put it to rest on Sunday night. After taking the stage to accept the award for Choice Reality Competition Show for The Voice, host Carson Daly and Shelton invited former judge Gwen Stefani on stage. We’re pretty sure Blake would turn his chair for Gwen. That sounds dirtier than we intended it to sound.
