Today is a good day to be a hip-hop fan; there’s two new killer tracks out now: one by Wiz Khalifa and one by Toronto-based artist Jahkoy. There’s also an upcoming track from Chance the Rapper, which he teased on Snapchat.
Upcoming Music: Chance the Rapper
Chance the Rapper is currently working on his third mixtape. He hinted at the possibility of this mixtape last month, but we finally have a small taste of the new material, thanks to his Snapchat. He posted two nine second previews of song snippets (hear it here and here).
Chance the Rapper hasn’t released a solo album since 2013, but he has collaborated with other artists in 2015, like with The Social Experiment for songs Angels and Somewhere In Paradise. This will be his followup mixtape to 2012’s Acid Rap. The new album name currently remains unknown.
Fresh Out The Studio: Wiz Khalifa
Wiz Khalifa just dropped a new track called Bake Sale, featuring Travi$ Scott. The rapper just released a mixtape last month, Cabin Fever 3, but he’s already just weeks away from releasing a new full-length album, Khalifa. He also just announced the release date for this album: February 5.
Between the new song, the last mixtape (which is his thirteenth mixtape), and an upcoming record, it’s no surprise fans want more.
Local Toronto hip-hop artist Jahkoy just released a new song too. It’s called Odd Future (listen to it below). Jahkoy is hip-hop and R&B performer, and producer No ID’s protege. He may be new on the scene, but he’s already set to play a major music festival and that’s Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware this summer. Jahkoy has also played alongside Skrillex, Purity Ring, Chance the Rapper, and more for a New Year’s Eve festival in Chicago.
