5 Albums To Spice Up Your Autumn

Now that summer is (practically) behind us, it’s time to start winding down for the last few months of 2019. It seems as if there’s always huge drops of new music at the start of a new season, and this fall is no exception. There are a lot of albums to keep on the lookout for, so we’ve rallied up five releases that you’ll want to have on your radar.

Charli, Charli XCX — September 13

There’s a lot to look forward to on this otherwise cursed Friday the 13. Charli will mark the third studio album for this English chanteuse. This queen has collaborated with some prominent musicians already (her collab with Icona Pop for “I Love It” is still a banger). With Charli, there’s a bunch that have caught our eye. She already released several of the collabs as singles ahead of the album drop today, including “Gone”  with Christine and the Queens, and “Blame It On Your Love” with Lizzo, but we were dying to hear “Shake It” with cupcakKe, Brooke Candy, Big Freedia and Pabllo Vittar. This 15-track album will definitely be filled with bops and bangers you’ll want to groove along to for the rest of the season.

Hey, I’m Just Like You, Tegan and Sara — September 27

Our beloved Canadian sisters are back with their ninth studio album at the end of the month. Hey, I’m Just Like You follows their 2016 record Love You To Death, which released on Neil Young’s label, Vapor Records. This new album will feature 12 re-recorded songs taken from their teenage years, which they deem as “an essential part of our high school story.” To further boost your excitement for the upcoming release, the Quins will release their memoir, High School, just three days before.

Magdalene, FKA Twigs — October 25

It’s been way too long since FKA Twigs came out with a full studio album (it’s been about five years since LP1—time flies.) Earlier this summer, Twigs dropped the gorgeous and incredibly vulnerable track “Cellophane.” In contrast to her latest single with Future, Magdalene is sure to have a variety of unique textures and electronic sounds that the artist is known and praised for. Not to mention, she’s also collaborating with a diverse cast of characters, with contributions from Cashmere Cat, Future, Skrillex, Jack Antonoff, and Nicolas Jaar being just a few.

Cheap Queen, King Princess — October 25

Also on this blessed Friday, King Princess will finally drop her debut album for the whole world to love and enjoy. With the release of her three singles for the 13-track album, “Cheap Queen,” “Prophet,” and “Ain’t Together,” we can likely expect a heart-wrenching album that will get you in all of the feels during this cuffing season. King Princess is set to go on tour September 20, making stops in Toronto on October 28, Montreal on October 29, and Vancouver on January 16.

R9, Rihanna — TBA

Though there is no release date or title for Rihanna’s ninth studio album, there is some speculation that RiRi will drop something by end of year. In the midst of the hype and frenzy from what went down at the Savage x Fenty show at this year’s NYFW, we’re praying to all that’s good and holy that this album drops soon. With RiRi opening up the show and a plethora of big name artists making a performance during the show, it seems like the logical next step to maintain this buzz would be to release a new album.
