Back in 2011, Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer began gathering fans online thanks to their popular YouTube cover videos. Only one year later, the four teenagers were catapulted to super-stardom thanks to an opening slot on One Direction’s Take Me Home Tour.
But following the band’s release of their second album Sounds Good Feels Good in 2015, it’s been mostly radio silence, (aside from their 2016 contribution “Girls Talk Boys” to the Ghostbusters soundtrack). For many fans, it’s begun to feel like the band may have forgotten about their third studio album. Is their “Amnesia” song more autobiographical than we realized?
Thankfully, it appears that the four-piece is preparing to finally release their highly anticipated third disc.
The band posted a Twitter video this week promising fans that they are both still breathing and playing instruments. It’s a win-win. “We’re in the middle of working on our album and we’re still alive,” said band member Michael Clifford. Promising that the “…album is going to be awesome” and that they can’t wait for fans to hear it, the band told their fans that they love them and are excited to release an album that will ‘blow their minds.’

No details were given on the album title or when fans can expect new music, but 5 Seconds of Summer drummer Ashton Irwin did post a picture of himself on Twitter with the caption “Insert Album Due Date 00//00//17.”

Irwin also tweeted that the foursome plan on releasing an album that is, in word, legendary. So yeah, start raising your expectations.
