1. Jessie Usher
After months of rumours, it was announced this week that actor Jessie Usher has taken the lead role in the highly-anticipated Independence Day sequel. In this new film, Usher will play Will Smith’s son but much more grown up since the character was first seen in the original movie. Up until now, Usher has really only flexed his acting muscles on a number of TV shows including Level Up and Survivor’s Remorse, so expect Usher’s star power to rise substantially once he gets started on this blockbuster role.
2. Kodi Smit-McPhee
Some of you may remember Kodi Smit-McPhee from his roles in Let Me In, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, or even his voice from ParaNorman, but you will definitely take notice of this hottie Aussie in his next role in the epic X-Men: Apocalypse. The actor will play the part of the elf mutant Nightcrawler alongside a number of new and returning stars such as James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner and Tye Sheridan.
3. Ben Hardy
Speaking of X-Men: Apocalypse casting news, British actor Ben Hardy is also in talks of being in the upcoming film. Hardy, who currently stars in the British TV series EastEnders, was originally up for the role of a young Cyclops but instead, that role has gone to Tye Sheridan. Rumour has it that he is still being considered for a mystery role, though, and whatever it is, we’re sure it will make him a star.
4. Ben Aldridge
A few months ago, it was announced that Fox had picked up a TV show based on the real-life story of Weezer singer Rivers Cuomo and now we have a star: British actor Ben Aldridge! Aldridge will play the Cuomo-inspired character who quits his band to go back to college. Bonus: Reign fans will recognize Aldridge as Antoine!
5. Dan Stevens
As previously reported, actor Dan Stevens has been cast as the Beast in the upcoming Beauty and the Beast movie alongside Emma Watson who has already signed on as Belle. This bodes well for the one-time Downton Abbey star who is slowly but surely building a very impressive portfolio of work. If you’re a fan, we highly recommend checking out 2014’s The Guest, a criminally underrated thriller that stars Stevens as a mysterious house guest who becomes the catalyst to a string of crazy events.
6. Joel Kinnaman
Last month, it was announced that Joel Kinnaman will take over for Tom Hardy in the highly-anticipated Suicide Squad movie. After Hardy walked away from the project, and rumours that Jake Gyllenhaal was interested in the role, it turns out that the film went with Kinnaman to play the role of supervillain Rick Flagg. Kinnaman’s past roles include the RoboCop remake and the TV show, The Killing.
