Many of us have office sidekicks—we love hanging out with them, we root for each other, and we join forces to share successes. In the big office that is Hollywood, several dynamic female duos are dominating the industry while being the epitome of girl bosses. Together, they’re also sending a message that supporting and empowering your fellow women is the best way to make a mark.
In honour of International Women’s Day, we’re shining a spotlight on the women listed below who are partners in their careers and the embodiment of girls supporting girls. On International Women’s Day, and every day, we simply have no choice but to stan.
If you’re in need of a laugh, trust the always funny Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The epic comedic duo has been unstoppable since meeting in 1993, becoming fan favourites on Saturday Night Live and hosting the Golden Globes three years in a row (2013, 2014, and 2015). They even made history together, co-anchoring the first all-female edition of SNL’s Weekend Update segment. There’s no doubt that Fey and Poehler will continue making audiences laugh for years to come and we have absolutely no problem with that.
Musicians Julia Michaels and Selena Gomez go way back to 2013 when Michaels wrote two songs for Gomez’s album Stars Dance. Michaels quickly became one of Gomez’s go-to co-writers and the pair have since been together for some of their biggest musical moments. Making their friendship Insta-official in 2017, Gomez shared a hug with Michaels in a video celebrating the release of Michaels’ debut solo single “Issues.” Gomez then joined Michaels in the vocal booth earlier this year, lending her voice and story to a track on the rising artist’s new EP Inner Monologue Part 1. We can’t wait to hear what they cook up next.

My sweet soul sister. Julia you have been a huge part of my life. You have taught me how to have courage when I have self doubt. This song is extremely close to my heart as I’ve experienced anxiety and know a lot of my friends do too. You’re never alone if you feel this way. The message is much needed and I really hope you guys like it!
After sharing the screen in the mega-successful teen romance To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Lana Condor and Janel Parrish became inseparable BFFs. In addition to catching up on ramen dates, they often step out to support each other’s new projects. Parrish most recently reunited with her soul sister at Condor’s Deadly Class premiere in L.A., proving once again that this pair is total friendship goals.
We’ve watched JWoww and Snooki’s wild antics and unforgettable adventures unfold on our television screens for 10 years, most recently on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. But what happened on the Jersey Shore didn’t stay there—instead, it created a lifelong bond. Despite the two friends settling down with their own families, they still bring the kids together for group play dates and Disney on Ice shows. JWoww and Snooki are true #rideordies.
Starring as the Stark sisters on Game of Thrones, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams’ sisterly bond is just as strong off the screen. In fact, the British actresses have matching tattoos in honour of being cast in the show on the same day—07.08.09. They’ve also shared plenty of fun moments with fans, including a special Carpool Karaoke for Apple TV. In an interview, Williams, 21, gave her “big sister” a shout out, saying, “It [is] so wonderful to have someone my age plucked out from normality into this world. It’s really lovely to have someone to hold my hand through this.”
Remember Cat and Jade? Ariana Grande and Liz Gillies’ friendship is nothing short of victorious, with the former Nickelodeon co-stars constantly hanging out and showing each other love. Last month, Grande and Gillies, who now stars on the reboot of the 1980s soap Dynasty, met up for a night out at a piano bar and shared clips of their Rent covers on social media. It left us hoping for an on-stage reunion at Grande’s upcoming Sweetener World Tour and, if we could be so lucky, “Give It Up” 2.0.
This listing would not be complete without our favourite kweens, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer from Broad City. The co-stars and co-creators continue to pave the way for feminist female comedians, especially on network TV. (Fun fact: the show is executive produced by Amy Poehler.) No topic has ever been off limits for the pair and we admire how they always keep it real. Though the final episodes of Broad City are airing this month, we already know we haven’t seen the last of Jacobson and Glazer together. It’s fronds to the ond after all.
North West and Penelope Disick
Though the closest they’ve come to a joint project is a unicorn-themed birthday party, North West (Kim Kardashian-West and Kanye West’s eldest child) and Penelope Disick (Kourtney Kardashian’s only daughter) are sure to become best friends and business partners as they grow up. Please hold while we trademark North Disick Enterprises.
