Over three seasons, Broad City has become known for its no-holds barred look at life for two twenty-something women in New York. Whether it’s where to store your weed (rhymes with Regina) or how to properly approach your first pegging experience, creators Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson have created a how-to guide for growing up in 2016.
While the series tends to get the most recognition for its never ending supply of highly enlightened dick jokes and odes to sex, Broad City’s seemingly effortless move to put strong, female characters in the centre of their stories has made it one of the most feminist-friendly shows in the history of television. Whether it’s featuring real-life kweens like Oprah Winfrey or Hillary Clinton, or guest stars like Vanessa Williams and Whoopi Goldberg, or the shows two leads, Broad City has filled a space that has remained largely empty in pop culture.
Ahead of part one of tonight’s Season 3 finale, Broad City creators and stars Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer made their first appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Inadvertently recreating their ‘Hillary Clinton freakout’ scene when meeting DeGeneres, Jacobson and Glazer gushed about their love for the stand up comedian before discussing working with Clinton and their relationship with Broad City Executive Producer Amy Poehler.
Don’t miss part one of the Season 3 finale of Broad City tonight at 10E/7P on Much. Watch The Ellen DeGeneres Show every Monday to Friday at 10 am ET on CTV Two and 4 pm ET on CTV. Catch up with episodes online anytime at CTV.ca.
