Adam Lambert returned to the American Idol stage last night to say good bye to the reality series that made him a star during its finale season and hello to his next hit single.
Only hours before hitting the stage for his final Idol performance, Lambert dropped his new track Welcome To The Show and welcomed us to Lambert 2016.
The new single features vocals from singer Laleh, who definitely has a Rihanna-quality to her voice that we are loving. The Swedish singer is a double threat, both performing on and co-writing the new joint.
Welcome To The Show is appropriately titled, with the new single sounding nothing short of a theatrical production, complete with booming highs and lows and a wall of sound thanks to electronic effects and traditional drum and bass instruments. Few musicians in 2016 know how to master dark pop like Lambert, a talent that has become even stronger since his time touring with Queen.
The new song is not part of Lambert’s 2015 album The Original High, which hopefully means we can expect another stand out dance album from the singer sometime this year.
