It’s been a long four years since Adele’s last music drop, but her latest Instagram post suggests that the drought may finally be coming to an end.
Adele posted a selection of black-and-white images of herself celebrating her 31st birthday, captioning, “This is 31…thank fucking god. 30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all,” which could possibly be referencing her recent split her from her husband, Simon Konecki, with whom she shares a six-year-old son.
It seems that fans can celebrate more than just Adele’s birthday with her because she goes on to hint at new music in the upcoming future: “30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you. Chin up eh.”

This is 31…thank fucking god 💀 30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all. No matter how long we’re here for life is constant and complicated at times. I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay. 31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself. For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once. Be kind to yourself people we’re only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity. Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realized that that is more than enough. I’ll learn to love you lot eventually 😂 Bunch of fucking savages, 30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you. Chin up eh ❤️
The “30” she references in the caption could be a nod to a new album, following the trend of her three-album discography, which are all named after her ages around their respective release time.
Adele’s most recent album, 25, was released in 2015 and was led with the bold and soulful single “Hello.” Three more singles were released over the next year and Adele supported the album on a world tour through 2016 and 2017. Aside from that, there have only been rumours that Adele has been writing new music in the studio, with hopes that a new album would be released this winter.
Is her Instagram post a confirmation that the wait may finally be over? We don’t have any other information yet, but we’ll be keeping our eyes locked to her social media until she does make her comeback.
