Alessia Cara and JoJo are two of the most exciting voices in music, so when we heard that they were teaming up for a duet for JoJo’s third studio album Mad Love, we couldn’t wait.
The musicians first worked together for Cara’s video for “Scars To Your Beautiful,” which features real people sharing stories of their emotional and physical scars, with members of the gay and transgender communities, cancer survivors and more represented. JoJo appears in the video, thanks to the two women sharing an admiration for one another’s careers (as well as the same management team).
The October release of JoJo’s Mad Love featured the duet “I Can Only,” a self-empowerment anthem, with a powerful message that we’ve come to expect from both artists in their work. The women are both busy this month performing on the star-studded iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour and even hit the stage together this week when the show pulled into JoJo’s hometown of Boston.
Not ready to end the party on stage, JoJo and Cara recruited DNCE guitar player and fellow iHeartRadio Jingle Ball performer JinJoo for an impromptu performance in the bathroom. You just can’t beat the acoustics!

Displaying yet again their pitch perfect vocals, Cara and JoJo slayed their duet of “I Can Only,” with Cara sporting an appropriate outfit consisting of Beyoncé’s latest sweatsuit, which features the holiday logo ‘I Sleigh All Day.’ It was truly a kweens on kweens performance.
In addition to “I Can Only,” JoJo’s latest album also features the singles “FAB” with Remy Ma and “Fuck Apologies” with Wiz Khalifa. The singer is scheduled to set out on an American tour kicking off in January.
