Update: Alexisonfire Clarifies Comments On Reuniting

Update: The band posted a message on Facebook, clarifying the messages made at Riot Fest. “The truth is, nothing has really changed,” the band wrote. “We all have our own careers and families which require our attention and as far as Alexisonfire is concerned, there are no immediate plans.”

In 2012, Canadian band Alexisonfire called it quits with a farewell tour and an EP entitled Death Letter. The following year, the band released a vinyl box set of all their records. This year, the band announced that they would return for a string of reunion dates at music festivals including Heavy Montreal, Reading and Leeds, and Riot Fest Toronto. This past weekend, during their Toronto show, the band made another announcement: they have reunited for real this time.

Whether you considered the past few years to be a brief break or actual time apart from each other, we are ecstatic to hear this news.

“Thank you for believing in this band when we couldn’t even believe in this band,” guitarist Wade MacNeil told fans on Saturday night. “Thank you for sticking with us. We promise to never leave you again. No more sentimental shit. Alexisonfire is officially back.” (Watch the announcement here.)

Outside of Alexisonfire, members Dallas Green has been releasing music under his solo moniker City & Colour (he also collaborated with pop star Pink on the project You+Me) and MacNeil is currently the vocalist for hardcore band Gallows.
