Amy Schumer is heading back to the big screen for the first time since writing and starring in her hugely successful 2015 comedy, Trainwreck.
In Snatched, Schumer plays a recently heartbroken 30-something who convinces her mother, played by Goldie Hawn, to take a vacation with her.
The trailer, which was just released today, reunites Schumer with her Trainwreck co-star Randall Park, who plays Schumer’s musician boyfriend that breaks up with her at the beginning of the film. Reeling from the heartbreak, Schumer decides that she and her uptight mother, played by Hawn, should head to South America for a vacation. After befriending a gorgeous man, Schumer and Hawn are kidnapped, something that locals find hard to believe. “You look like melted candles.”
Though set in South America, Snatched was filmed in Hawaii, with Schumer posting pictures from set on her social media accounts.
Following in the footsteps of buddy action comedies like The Heat and Central Intelligence, the NSFW trailer shows Schumer and Hawn running from kidnappers, washing themselves in sinks and hilariously mishearing the word ‘welcome.’
The film was written by Schumer, Katie Dippold (Parks and Recreation, The Heat) and Schumer’s sister Kim Caramele. Snatched also stars Christopher Meloni, Ike Barinholtz, Wanda Sykes and Óscar Jaenada.
Snatched hits theatres on May 12, 2017.
