Longtime friends Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are teaming up to star in the new film, The Nest. The two Second City alums will play sisters who throw one last big party at their family home before it’s sold. Both will produce the film, while Pitch Perfect’s Jason Moore will direct.
Obviously, this is a great, great day. Not since PB&J, nachos and cheese, powdered sugar donuts and Coca-Cola (don’t knock it ’til you try it) have two entities gone together so well. The Nest will be the next of many awesome things Fey and Poehler will team up to do together, a list that is already long and impressive. Here is our ranking of the greatest pieces of work from Foehler.*
1. Mean Girls
No other movie has so expertly taken such a funny approach to looking at how truly awful it can be to wade through high school life. The cult classic still lives on ten years later and is still totally fetch.
1. Heckling Neil Patrick Harris
If there were ever two people who could bring twerking to the Emmys and keep it funny, it’s Fey and Poehler.
1. Baby Mama
Sure, the film didn’t do great at the box office or with the critics, but Baby Mama is a gem that deserves a second viewing.
1. The Golden Globes
The duo have hosted the Golden Globes twice now and of course, rocked them twice.
1. Weekend Update
The two friends became the first female co-anchor team in Saturday Night Live history to host Weekend Update and give us gems like this.
1. Taylor Swift Joke and Taylor Swift Apology
The comediennes joked about Taylor Swift’s active dating life while hosting the Golden Globes, a jab that Swift was not impressed with and in a thinly veiled jab while being interview by Vogue, said “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” (Name two women who have done more to help other women in Hollywood?!) To show that they can deliver a joke and an apology, Poehler had this to say on the subject: “Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff. ”
1. The Greatest Gag in Award Show History
What started as a super uncomfortable moment when Poehler first jumped on stage became easily the greatest Award show gag ever.
*Everything these two do is numero uno in my book.
