An Ode To Matthew McConaughey’s Fanny (Pack)

This blog first started out with the theme Actor Off Duty Photos You Can’t Un-See. Think Leonardo DiCaprio’s Nicholson-esque beach look or Jake Gyllenhaal’s love for socks with sandals. The reason for this blog was a recent picture that came out of Matthew McConaughey wearing a fanny pack. That was going to be exhibit A.

But as I started writing it up, I just couldn’t get myself to find really anything wrong with that picture of Mr. Alright, Alright, Alright. He looks SO. HOT. Even in with a fanny pack.

His hair and stubble look perfectly groomed. His face has filled back out after losing weight for Dallas Buyer’s Club and True Detective. The V of his V-neck is the perfect shape. The shirt isn’t too tight and isn’t too loose. His posture, with a slight lean and faraway gaze, projects strength. The hand on his son shows signs of protection and love. Their opposite stares almost give off an artistic element of opposition and symmetry. Plus, his shades are pretty cool.

And you know what? The fanny pack shows off his lack of vanity and his focus on practicality. In his own words:

“I’m not afraid of the fanny pack…you gotta kinda put it on the side to make it look a little less nerdy, but still, practicality wins out.”

So you know what Matty. You do you. I’m pro this picture. And pro the pack.
