If you missed seeing Kanye West perform with Drake during yesterday’s final night of OVO Fest at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, you may get another chance to see and hear the two together soon.
West was one of the surprise guests during the second night of Drizzy’s annual OVO Fest, appearing onstage with the Toronto MC and asking the crowd “Is y’all ready for this album?” West went on the say “I wasn’t talking about Pablo. I wasn’t talking about Views. I wanna ask y’all right now, are y’all ready for this album?”

Yeezy’s announcement has left many fans hoping that a collaboration album is on the way. Drake and Kanye have talked about working with one another in the past, with Drake’s April interview with Zane Lowe on OVO Sound Radio touching on the subject. Drizzy revealed that he and West were planning on releasing a mixtape, saying “Maybe we’ll get that done.” Drake continued, saying “I love [Kanye]. He’s a really good guy. I grew up with him as a role model. Always given him credit that’s why we’re here right now. It’s amazing to be his friend.”
Drake and Kanye have a long history of working together in the studio and supporting one another with surprise appearances on tour. The two first collaborated on 2009’s “Forever,” which also featured Eminem.
Most recently, Drake was in the studio with West during the recording of West’s eighth studio album The Life Of Pablo, with the two working on a number of tracks together.
I wanna thank my brother Drizzy for helping me on 30 Hours & Father Stretch My Hands.

Both West and Drake have found success with joint albums. In 2011, West and Jay-Z released their Grammy-nominated record Watch the Throne, which featured the singles “Otis,” “No Church In The Wild” and “In Paris.” During an appearance at 2013’s OVO Fest, Kanye told the crowd that he and Jay Z may not have released Watch The Throne if it weren’t for all the pressure musically that they felt from Drake’s work.
Just last year, Drake teamed up with Future to drop the mixtape What a Time to be Alive, which debuted at number one in the US and featured the track “Jumpman,” which was famously used in one of Taylor Swift’s Apple ads.
Drake is a supporter of Apple Music, with his album Views selling more than one million copies on the streaming service in its first week. West has been vocal about his desire for Apple to buy out Jay Z’s Tidal, tweeting that the two companies should be focused on letting ‘the kids have the music.’
Apple give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop trying to act like you Steve.

We can likely expect a new Drake/Kanye collaboration album as soon as the ink dries on Apple Music’s cheque to Tidal.
