Ariana Grande And James Corden Start A Band In New Carpool Karaoke

Ariana Grande is just one day away from releasing her highly anticipated fourth studio album Sweetener and to celebrate her new music, the pop star is revisiting some of her biggest hits. Taking her first spin around Los Angeles with James Corden in Carpool Karaoke, the two theatre buffs performed some of Grande’s chart toppers, as well as one of their favourite show tunes. Look out, Broadway.

The pair mostly stuck to singing, only quickly changing gears to talk about Grande’s personal life with regards to her favourite birthday theme (the movie Jaws when she was two years old) and the most absurd rumour she’s heard about herself, which is that she’s carried everywhere. Just to show how ridiculous that would look, Corden offered Grande a piggyback into Starbucks. Admittedly, it’s probably a fun way to get around.

Grande and Corden practised their high notes with the popstar’s discography, including “Dangerous Woman,” “Side By Side,” and her new singles “No More Tears Left To Cry” and “God Is A Woman.” Grande also showed off her impeccable Céline Dion impression, performing the Canadian superstar’s single “It’s All Coming Back To Me.” Carpool Karaoke marks the second time Grande paid tribute to Dion on the Late Late Show this week, having previously sung “My Heart Will Go On” during a Titanic remake on Monday night.

Wrapping up the segment with plans to put together a band that only performs theatre songs,  Corden and Grande bonded over their love of Broadway, taking turns singing “Suddenly Seymour” from Little Shop of Horrors. We’d buy a ticket to that.

Check out Ariana Grande in Carpool Karaoke below and don’t miss Grande when she performs alongside Nicki Minaj, Shawn Mendes, Logic featuring Ryan Tedder, Travis Scott, Post Malone and Panic! At The Disco at the 2018 MTV VMA on Monday, August 20 at 9 p.m. ET on Much and MTV Canada.
