We’re less than two weeks away from the highly anticipated remake of Disney’s 1991 classic Beauty and the Beast and today we’re getting a closer look at the film’s theme song with Ariana Grande and John Legend.
Sticking close to the title track from the original 1991 film, Grande and Legend’s duet fills us with warm fuzzies and dreams of dancing around a giant ballroom with a guy who doesn’t look great now, but will definitely be hotter in the near future.
Grande and Legend’s remake first appeared in the final trailer for Beauty and the Beast, but now the singing superstars have thrown on a tux and stunning ball gown to shoot an official video for their theme.
Just released today, the Dave Meyers-directed video features Grande as the beautiful Belle locked in a tower. Dressed in stunning red tulle gown, Grande joins her ‘beast,’ which is actually a dapper Legend at a piano. Grande is surrounded by dancers in red to bring the rose from the Beast’s curse to life. The singers are later joined by Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in his Beast form as the two move around the ballroom and fall in love. Ah. L’amour.
In addition to the new video, Disney has also released Josh Groban’s remake of “Evermore,” which features music from the original film, with new lyrics written by Tim Rice and Alan Menken.
“Evermore” is one of three new songs being added to the upcoming film, with Stevens also singing an original track. Céline Dion, who recorded the original Oscar-winning theme with Peabo Bryson, is also back for the soundtrack, recording the new song, “How Does A Moment Last Forever.” We wouldn’t be surprised to see one of the new tracks in the running for an Oscar next year.
The upcoming Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens as Belle and the Beast, with the two actors joined on screen by an all-star cast, including Luke Evans as Gaston, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Josh Gad as LeFou, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, Audra McDonald as Madame De Garderobe, Kevin Kline as Belle’s father Maurice and Stanley Tucci as a new character named Cadenza.
Beauty and the Beast will arrive in theatres on March 17.
