The viral segment that has become the ruling force of late night TV is getting its own series. The Late Late Show With James Cordens Carpool Karaoke segment will soon be a series, with news of the expanding empire announced in January.
Following in footsteps of successful late night segment-turned series Lip Sync Battle, Carpool Karaoke will air on Apple Music and feature comedians paired with singers. In the new trailer which dropped this week, Corden continues driving duties with Will Smith as the two men travel to new heights and take Carpool Karaoke to the sky in a helicopter.
Other pairings that pop up in the new trailer include Ariana Grande with Seth McFarlane, Chelsea Handler with Blake Shleton, Billy Eichner with Metallica, Alicia Keys and John Legend joined by Taraji P. Henson, and Michael Strahan with NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. We’re not really sure what musical and/or comedy group the last two men fit in, but we’ll give their episode a chance.
Even with the upcoming 16-episode half hour series on Apple Music, Corden says that he will continue with his viral Carpool Karaoke segments on The Late Late Show. Ed Sheeran has already confirmed that he plans to jump in the passenger seat with Corden at some point this year, though a confirmed date has not been given. We’ll wait.
A series premiere date for Apple Music’s Carpool Karaoke has yet to be announced, but until then you can watch The Late Late Show With James Corden every Monday to Friday at 12:37am ET on CTV. Catch up with episodes online here.
