Contrary to popular belief, girls DO care about things other than makeup and their cell phones. It’s a feat that Ariana Grande had to remind two misogynistic radio DJs about while promoting her new single Focus.
In a recent interview with radio station Power 106, DJs Justin Credible and Eric D-Lux asked Grande some very condescending questions about cell phones, makeup and unicorn emojis.
The DJs asked Grande, “If you could use makeup or your phone one last time, what would you pick?” Immediately, she shuts them down replying, “Is this what you think girls have trouble choosing between?”
They also had a pretty hard time believing that Ari can go “many hours” without checking her Twitter feed. Eye roll.
When the subject eventually changes to the new emoji update, she mentions that she loves the unicorn emoji. DJ Eric patronizes her, suggesting that only girls like unicorns.
“You need a little brushing up on equality over here,” Ari continues. “Who says a unicorn emoji isn’t for men?”
Despite the arrogance from the two DJs, Grande manages to stay polite and charming.
When asked about what problems she wants to fix most in the world she gives a long list: “Intolerance, meanness, double standards, misogyny, racism, sexism. You know, all that shit. There’s lots we’ve got to get started on. That’s what we need to focus on. We’ve got work to do.”
