Guess Who Stars In Arkells’ Video For ‘Drake’s Dad’?

Drake's Dad

What happens when you go to Memphis and run into Drake’s dad? If you’re a member of Arkells, you write a song about it and cast Drake’s dad for the video.

Frontman Max Kerman said in a press release that while traveling through the southern states, he and a group of friends ran into Dennis Graham, pops to Aubrey Drake Graham.

Says Kerman, “Last summer I was on a road trip with my best friends through the American south, and in the magic of the night, we happened to meet Drake’s dad – Dennis Graham – in a Memphis bar…He couldn’t have been more gracious, especially given that there were 16 of us, drunk on friendship and cheap American beer. This chance encounter inspired this song.”

The Hamilton rockers have now released a video for the autobiographical song, returning to Memphis and giving Kerman the opportunity to reunite with Drake’s dad. Kerman and Graham, a native of Memphis, strike a number of poses throughout the video, which also features Kerman and the rest of the band partying, drinking cheap American beer, playing a gig in Tennessee, and getting drunk on friendship.

Kerman describes the new track as “Elton John meets Kanye West. Southern groove, classic piano changes, 808s, and a gospel choir.”

“Drake’s Dad” appears on Arkells’ upcoming fourth studio album, Morning Report, which is set to be released August 5.
