To say that the release of Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo has gone smoothly would be far from the truth. From changes in the album title to uploading the record on Apple Music and then pulling it a few days later, West’s seventh studio album has created more headlines for it’s odd release schedule rather than its music.
It may be for that reason that we’ve yet to really see any music videos from The Life of Pablo. West has curated a career that has spawned some of the most inventive visuals in the history of music, but sadly this time around fans have been left largely without new material from the outspoken rapper. That’s why we were so excited to learn that someone has picked up the music video slack for Yeezy.
Fans of the comedian who follow Aziz on Instagram know that the actor has spent the last few weeks eating his way through Italy. It now appears that Ansari wasn’t simply enjoying the finest wines and pastas the country has to offer, but also shooting a video for West’s highly controversial track Famous.
Along with comedian Eric Wareheim, who also directs the video, the two men opt out of lip syncing the Taylor Swift-bashing lyrics to instead show off their Instagrammable meals and dance around the streets of Italy a night.
This isn’t the first time Ansari has been a part of a Kanye West music video. The Parks and Rec star also had a small role in West and Jay Z’s 2011 Spike Jonze directed video for Otis, where the actor danced in suit next to the denim-clad rap superstars. It looks like Ansari was ready for more screen time.
