The 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards Best Music Moment Nominees Have Been Announced

The 2018 MTV TV & Movie Awards are in one week, which means the nominees for Best Musical Moment are finally in. Featuring moments that made us cry with sadness and cry with laughter, the category features the Best Musical Moments from both the big and small screen. TV and movies, together as they should be.

For the teens, this year’s list of nominees includes Love, Simon, Riverdale and Stranger Things. Theatre fans will be happy to see a nod for The Greatest Showman, while fans of family TV viewing will likely cast their votes for Black-ish or This Is Us.

Call Me By Your Name earned a nomination for Timothée Chalamet’s incredible tear-filled performance as Elio, while this year’s MTV Movie and TV Award host Tiffany Haddish earned a nomination along with her Girls Trip co-stars Jada Pinkett-Smith, Queen Latifah and Regina Hall for their epic dance battle scene. Flossy posse!

Today’s announcement brings Stranger Things’ tally up to seven nominations, tying the sci-fi TV show with Black Panther for the most nominations this year. Girls Trip and Riverdale now have four nominations each, bringing them to a three-way tie with It. Superheroes continue to dominate the theatre and the Movie and TV Awards, with Avengers: Infinity War, Wonder Woman, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi all earning three nominations each.

Chris Pratt has been announced as this year’s recipient of the Generation Award, while Lena Waithe will be on hand to accept the Trailblazer Award. The ever-growing presenter list currently includes Zendaya, Michael B. Jordan, Kristen Bell, Seth Rogen, Mila Kunis, Common, and Gina Rodriguez, with Tiffany Haddish scheduled to host for the first time.

As for musical performances, Chloe x Halle and Mustard and Nick Jonas are set to hit the stage on Monday, June 18. It could be a busy night for Jonas, who is also nominated for Best On-Screen Team along with his Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle co-stars.
