It looks like the glass slipper fit Camila Cabello—she’ll be starring in a Sony fast-tracked retelling of Cinderella. Blockers director Kay Cannon will direct the film and The Late Late Show host James Corden will produce.
As of Wednesday morning, Cabello hadn’t commented on the announcement, but she did post an image of the cartoon princess from the Disney film on her Instagram story.
There couldn’t be a more perfect role for the Grammy-nominated songstress’ film debut, and in honour of her new gig, we rounded up all the reasons Cabello will make a perfect Cinderella.
Cabello’s music video for her monster hit “Havana” featured the singer in multiple acting roles. Performing opposite Noah Centineo, Cabello delivered in every role she played, proving she’s more than just a singer.
She looks like a princess half of the time on the red carpet. Never shying away from a poofy gown or dramatic train, we can only imagine what she’d look like as Cinderella. A big, glittering, blue ball gown would just suit her.
#CamilaIsTheNewCinderella I can not believe that we are going to see Camila act. And the fact that she’s going to be the new Cinderella. A Latina Cinderella…..wow what a time to be alive. @Camila_Cabello I’m so proud pic.twitter.com/p0uSob9bJE

In the music video for Bazzi’s “Beautiful” Cabello portrayed a Juliet type character, inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film. Standing on the balcony, Cabello looks every bit the part and could easily transition from Juliet to Cinderella.
At just 22 years old, Cabello already has a laundry list of achievements she can brag about, both as a member of Fifth Harmony and as a solo artist. She’s a five-time Billboard Award nominee, a two-time Grammy nominee, and a three-time iHeartRadio MMVAs winner. A pop princess can be a real princess after all.
